Leangains is an intermittent fasting system designed to burn fat, gain muscle, and increase health. It can be used by athletes, bodybuilders, and the general guy/gal wanting to get in better shape and look good. Intermittent fasting results in greater health, fat loss, and increased muscle. The Leangains system is made for people with fitness goals and involves a 16 hour fasting period followed by an 8 hour eating period, for men. For women, it’s 14 hours of fasting followed by 10 hours of eating. It is highly recommended that you lift weights while following Leangains.
Leangains also involves eating a specific number of calories and macronutrients, which allow us to have even better results from this intermittent fasting. While following Leangains, you will usually eat below your TDEE (total-daily energy expenditure) on the days you do not lift weights and above it on the days you do lift. So what type of results will I get from following Leangains? Why don’t we take a look at its founder, Martin Berkhan?
Martin grew up a fat kid. He looked like this as a teenager:
So the guy who founded the diet I’ll be following is fat and out of shape? Well, it’s not as simple as that. Just because Martin Berkhan hasn’t gotten good results from Leangains doesn’t mean you won’t. Well, here’s a picture of his current physique. It appears to be virtually identical to the physique he had as a teenager and before beginning Leangains.
Martin Berkhan Nowadays:
Another example below of Martin. Notice how fat and weak looking Leangains has made him?
Obviously, Leangains has done nothing to improve his physique.
Okay, enough with the the comedy. Clearly, Leangains has done wonders for Martin Berkhan. He went from being a fat kid to looking good at 5% bodyfat, which he maintains year round. Speaking of which, that’s one of the beauties of Leangains intermittent fasting. You are able to stay lean year round. With the traditional bulk/cut method, you’re somewhat lean for a small percentage of the year and fat the rest. What’s the point of spending so much time on your fitness, only to be fat 11 months a year?
That’s Leangains. Check out the next step in your Leangains journey, picking a training program. Just go from left to write on the top tabs and you should cover everything.
